Independent oil and gas company Chariot has signed a pipeline tie-in agreement with Moroccan exploration and national mineral resources agency, the Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines (ONHYM), to secure access to the Maghreb Europe Gas (GME) Pipeline in Morocco.
The agreement will enable gas produced from the Anchois Gas Project, offshore Morocco, to be transported via the GME Pipeline, which is owned and operated by the ONHYM and which runs from eastern Morocco through Tangiers to Spain.
“I am very pleased to announce the signing of this Pipeline tie-in Agreement with our partner on the Lixus license, ONHYM,” stated Pierre Raillard, Head of Gas Business and Morocco Country Director at Chariot, adding, “This moves Chariot a step closer towards delivering 1st gas from the Anchois Gas Field to potential customers using the GME Pipeline. The Anchois Gas Pipeline is a highly strategic asset given the continued volatility of global energy markets and combined with its proximity to the international GME Pipeline, we are well-placed to bring gas online as quickly as possible.”
Covering an area of approximately 1,794km2, the Anchois Gas Project is situated within the Lexus license in water depths of up to 850m. Assessments indicate the presence of an estimated 637 billion cubic feet (bcf) of contingent resources and up to 754 bcf of prospective resources.
